One common assessment of motor speed is the finger tapping test (FTT). Each finger should be placed correctly on each key group and you should type exactly according to the instructions. These keys are usually marked with a raised dot or dash to help you find the keys without looking. To type faster, the fingers need to be placed properly. Your left index finger rests on the 'F' key, and your right index finger rests on the 'J' key. The home row is the middle row of letters on your keyboard.
